In this video, we're going to show you how to replace a side view mirror on this 2008 Equinox. Process is pretty much the same for any '05 to '09 Equinox and Torrent. The only tool you'll need is a 10 millimeter wrench or socket and ratchet with extension.
Okay, use a screwdriver carefully though between the rubber on this plastic rubber and then pull out. Okay. Then if you have so equip, you'll need to disconnect your speaker. It's just a little plug right here. Just pull firmly on the plug. Okay. The mirror connects right here. Just a little tab underneath. Carefully pry it down. Okay. Pull that out. Then there are three 10 millimeter nuts right here. We'll just fast forward removing those three nuts. Once those are off, the mirror comes right off. Okay. Here's my new mirror from 1A Auto. It comes in black so it's going to make a functional replacement. You can put it on as is. If you did want to match the color of your vehicle, you can be as crude as buying some paint from the hardware store and paint it that way. If you want to match it well, go to an automotive part store that has a paint department. They can match the color of your car by seeing it and by seeing the paint code on it. They could put some paint in an air charged spray can and you can finish the mirror yourself that way.
I'm about to install. Just make sure that the lead goes through. I have some shipping protectors out here. Remove first. Okay. Make sure the wire goes through. Start the nuts. Okay. I'll speed it up here. I started all the three of the nuts on. Just kind of press the mirror on and check it and make sure it's seeded correctly. Then tighten those nuts up. You want to tighten them up firm. Once they get seeded and are hard to turn but don't over tighten them. It's tight nice and firm. Connect there. Okay. Put your insulation on. Put back your speaker. Put the door panel down on the door panel like that. You can see the clip right up here. Clip it on and you're set.
