Hey, I'm Brian, I'm here to give you guys a little tutorial on some window regulators. The specific design is the scissor design. We actually get a lot of calls on these products here and the common question is: The part I received seems different than the part in my vehicle.
The scissor design actually has a flip design and we're actually going to show you how to fix this here. The most common thing that you want to do, or the first step you want to do is lay the parts out side by side. Try not to match them up in the car because this can get confusing. Take it out, lay them side by side, and what you actually see here is a same exact part for the same model vehicle in the same door. As the appearance shows here, they seem to be mirrored.
If you look down at the bottom here, we have the power window motor. This is the piece that is actually powered to lift and lower your glass. The next section down here is . you actually have your gear drive. Here's your mounting plates on both. As you can see, it's identical. You have your tension spring here. If you notice on the upper section here, it's kind of reversed. You're going to think normally, I get the wrong side door. You're going to give us a call and you want to express that to one of our customer service reps. I'm going to show you how to fix this.
Basically, pick this up by the base and you want to scissor or flip. This is how you're going to fix the issue. It's going to actually match the component as shown there. You can now see that both of these components here are the same part and you're ready for installation.

In this video, we show you how to remove and reinstall the window regulator on this 2004 Dodge Stratus, same as any '01 to '06. The regulator in this vehicle is actually working fine, but we remove it, show you our new one, and reinstall the original. The tools you'll need for this project include a small flat blade screwdriver, Phillips screwdriver, putty knife or door panel clip tool, 10mm socket, ratchet, and socket extensions.
Use a small flat blade screwdriver, and down in the pull cup pry up the little trap door. There's a Phillips screw in there and then behind your door handle there's another Phillips screw in there. Then there are three Phillips screws: one there, there, there, and then one on the back edge here. Okay, just going to fast-forward as I use a Phillips screwdriver and remove six screws in all. This triangle up here can just pull out. What you need is a putty knife to get down in behind the door panel here, slide it down, and pull it up. Then start to pull the pins and then the door panel comes up.
Right here is your lock harness so press on the little button and disconnect it. On your latch rod there's a clip, just going to reach in behind with my finger and pull that clip off and the rod comes up and off. Then lastly, down here is your window harness. There's a button right in the middle. You've really got to push that button and then work the harness out and your door panel is off.
Once your door panel is off you want to check these aqua clip pins here because there could be pins stuck inside them. Use a pair of needle nose pliers to pull the pins out, and then reinstall them on the inside of your door panel. Even though I'm speeding through this as far as the video speed, you want to slowly and carefully take your water shield off. It is a little difficult, although once you start getting it off it comes easily. But avoid tearing it, as it does provide a good measure of sound barrier as well as a moisture barrier from your door panel. As you can see, my window is all the way up.
What I'm going to do is loosen a bunch of 10mm nuts: one here, here, these four over here, one in there, there, there, and there. Even though I said loosen in the last clip, I'm actually going to remove almost all those nuts and bolts. I'm going to remove them except for the very last one so I can easily slide my window regulator around. Now you can pull the window down. With the window down at that height you can see right through here there is a 10mm nut to loosen and then right through here is a 10mm nut to loosen. Loosen those up, hold on to your window, slide the track forward and take it off. Be careful as you're reaching in here, and then pull your window up. Now you can slide your track back and pull your window out.
You can see back in here your window motor is connected. There's a little orange tab, push that back through, and pull it out from the other side. There's a tab to disconnect that and pull your regulator off. Here's my old regulator, new regulator from 1A Auto, and you can see everything about this regulator is exactly the same. Same motor, same plug, it all mounts the same. My original one is in fine shape, so I am going to just reinstall it. I just wanted to show you. The only thing you would want to do is swap over a bolt here so it hangs up easy, and then reinstall. One thing that I do that I don't show is with the original regulator I took it out in the up position just so you could see that it can be done that way, but what you want to do or what I did is I lowered it down some by reconnecting the harness and the switch.
The new regulator from 1A Auto. If you install one of those it will come already down in the correct position; squeeze it together like that, put it into the door where my plug is, and it plugs on there. If you want to put the little red tab back in you can. Feed the regulator in. Get that bolt hung up right there. In the interest of time and not boring you here, what I'm doing here is I'm going to put the regulator into place and start all the nuts and bolts that hold it. I'll start all of them first, get them in place, and then go around and tighten them up.
When you tighten them you want to get them nice and firm, but they don't have to be incredibly tight or anything. Here, I'm just hooking up the window switch again so I can move the regulator into place. Now you want to slide your window carefully back down and watch it into place as nuts and studs on the window come in contact with the track. You can see here use a little flashlight just to see what's going on in there, the window winds up in the track, and slide the track back onto the loose mounting studs. Here you can see I've gotten the track on there and now I can tighten up those 10mm nuts. Now carefully put that water shield back in place. Here I've put my door panel back on, and I'm testing the door to make sure it works.
To put your door panel back on first reconnect your power window switch make sure it clicks. Bring it close and reconnect your power door locks. Take this rod, put it into the hole, slip the clip around, and clip it on. Make sure your lock goes through. There is a large locating tab that goes into a big hole. Once you've gotten that then make sure your pins go in. Make sure all the pins go in correctly. Now it's just a matter of replacing all of the Phillips screws. We'll speed up as we replace all those screws. There was one down in the door cup, behind the door panel, three at the bottom, and then one at the back.

In this video, we're going to show you how to install a new window regulator in this 2004 Chrysler Sebring. It's pretty much the same as any 2001 to 2006 Sebring. We'll show you the front left, but the front right is the same procedure. You'll need a new window regulator from 1AAuto.com, a flat blade screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver, a razor blade, and a 10mm socket and ratchet.
There are two trap doors here. There's one right here behind the door handle and another one here in the pull cup. All you want to do is take a flat blade screwdriver and stick it into the slot on the side of them and just pry them out. Now, what you want to do is remove each of these Phillips screws. There are six in total. We'll just fast-forward as Don removes those. Take your flat blade screwdriver and pry off that triangle panel.
To release the clips on the back of the door panel, you just want to pull out all the way around the door panel. Once you've done that, you can lift it up and off of your door lock knob. Behind the back of the door panel you'll see here's your door handle rod. You just want to pop that clip up and pull that up and out and you want to disconnect the two harnesses here by just pushing in the tab and pulling them out. Now your door panel is free.
The easiest way to remove the water shield is to use a razor blade or a utility knife and carefully cut through the adhesive to separate it between the shield and the door. Even though we're fast forwarding this, you want to do it slowly and carefully so you don't rip the shield, and obviously you want to be careful not to cut yourself.
You'll need to separate the window from the regulator, and you can see there's a nut right through that hole and then a nut through that hole. Obviously, this is in the correct position. If your window is in a position where you can't get to those nuts, you can unbolt the regulator first and then slide it up and down until you can get to these nuts. Separate the window from the regulator.
Using a flat blade screwdriver, you just want to pry up that weather strip. Now, you pull your regulator forward and push the window back so that the studs slide out of those holes, and then you just want to pull your window inwards up and out. Now, right here, you can see that there's four 10mm bolts on the window motor bracket, and then there's these two 10mm nuts right here on the regulator. You just want to loosen these up. We'll fast-forward as Don does this. Once you've loosened all those, you can just push the regulator up and out of those holes, and then you just want to lean it forward so that you can access the harness on the window motor. On the harness, there's a little red locking tab. Push that through, and then there's another tab on the harness that you press and disconnect.
The old window regulator in the back; the new window regulator from 1A Auto up front. You can see they're identical, all the same mounting points, the same motor, everything. Now, you want to remove those two 10mm nuts and those four 10mm bolts, and put them into your new window regulator. Now, feed your window regulator back into the door and reconnect that harness. Then line up those studs and bolts and put them into the holes. We'll continue to fast-forward as Don tightens up those nuts and bolts.
Now, we'll do a quick test. Plug the window switch back in. Turn the key on, and you can run the window regulator up and down. You just want to stop it and make sure it's in the position there where you can get through those holes and get the nuts on the studs for the window easily. Now, if we look through those holes, you can see on the regulator, there's those large holes with the smaller ends. You just want to push the studs of the window into those larger holes, so feed your window back down into the door. Make sure that you line up the front edge and the rear edge of the window into the tracks correctly, and it moves up and down freely.
Then you can pull the regulator towards you as you bring those studs down and line them up in the window track. You can see here, the studs are in place. Now, what you want to do is just replace those two 10mm nuts, and we'll fast-forward as Don does this. We'll continue to fast-forward as he replaces the water shield. Make sure all your cables and harnesses go through it. Replace your weather strip.
To reinstall the door panel, you just want to take that door handle rod, put it back into place, and re-clip it. Then you want to just reconnect your two harnesses. Once you've done that, you want to just line up your door, put it up and over the door lock knob, and down into place. Then you just want to push those clips in around the edges of the door panel. We'll just fast-forward here as Don replaces those six Phillips screws. Now, just replace your trap doors and that triangular panel.
