15. What is California emissions? How do I know if I have it?
Due to the stricter emissions requirements in the
state of California,
most auto manufacturers build cars that are specially tailored for these
regulations. This is often accomplished
through changes in exhaust, emission systems, and engine programming. While originally intended for use in California, many of
these cars are sold in other states around the country. To determine if your vehicle is California emissions
equipped, there should be a label under the hood with emissions
specifications.
16. How do I find the production date of my vehicle?
The production date can often be found on a sticker
located in the door jam of the driver’s door. If the car has been repainted or the tag has fallen off, your local
dealership should be able to provide this info with the help of your VIN.
17. What is a VIN and where can it be found?
The VIN, or Vehicle Identification Number, is a unique
serial number located on your vehicle. This 17-digit number includes information like the country the vehicle
was made in, what year it was built, engine size, and other various
information. All cars on the road today
will have the VIN located on the driver’s side dash visible through the lower
windsheild outside the vehicle. If this
tag is blocked or not visible, you can also find this number on your vehicle’s
registration.
18. What is an RPO code and where can it be found?
Used specifically on GM vehicles, RPO stands for
Regular Production Options and is what the factory used to determine which
options your vehicle was to be equipped with (like fog lights, heated mirrors,
etc). Since different options can affect
how parts function, we may require this code to make sure the part fits your
vehicle. These codes can normally be
found on a sheet located in your glove box, center console, on the trunk lid,
or under the spare tire cover.
19. Are these universal parts or direct replacement?
All of our parts are direct replacement for the part
that came on your vehicle originally and require no modification to install.
