The Eagle marque was a short lived venture made by Eagle Corporation after the acquisition of American Motors Corporation. The name Eagle came from the last vehicle AMC produced, the AMC Eagle. The Eagle marque replaced AMC in the dealerships, making most former AMC/Jeep dealers into Jeep/Eagle locations. Only the original two Eagle vehicles were designed by AMC engineers, the Eagle Premier and Eagle Medallion. However, after that most Eagle vehicles were just rebadged Eagle?s and Mitsubishi?s. This becomes apparent when looking at the Eagle Talon, which has a striking similarity to the Mitsubishi Eclipse. Although the Eagle brand enjoyed modest popularity, its failure was not due to poor quality or engineering. Eagle cars were for the most part the same as several other popular, high sales volume automobiles. A lack of advertising and the indistinguishable nature of the Eagle brand ultimately caused its eventual demise in 1998.
