Hi, I'm Mike Green. I'm one of the owners of 1A Auto. I want to help you save time and money repairing or maintaining your vehicle. I'm going to use my 20-plus years experience restoring and repairing cars and trucks like this to show you the correct way to install parts from 1AAuto.com. The right parts installed correctly: that's going to save you time and money. Thank you and enjoy the video.
In this video we'll be showing you how to replace the fog light on this 2004 Ford Ranger, same as any '04 or '05, and similar for other years of Ranger. You'll just need some basic tools, some various millimeter sockets and needle-nosed pliers.
All right, to do a fog light on a Ranger Edge here, you're going to need to remove this 8mm bolt right here, okay. This is a tire, so we're looking at the fender or the bumper. We're going to remove this 8mm bolt. Now, so viewing it from kind of the middle of the car in, you want to take a regular pair of needle-nosed pliers and there's these little locking washers here. Once you get them turning sometimes, if you work on it, you can probably save them, but most of the time you may just want to twist them off. You kind of break them. Then I'll get the other one too. Okay, and then these speed nuts are 11mm, and there's kind of a long stud, so put the socket on there.
Here's your bulb. If you're just looking to replace the bulb, obviously, you just pull it out, twist it and pull it out; it's a halogen bulb, so you don't want to touch it, if your bulb's still good. You don't want to get your finger oil on it. Once you have these nuts off from that bolt, then you just kind of pull from the outside, comes off, and there's your fog light out.
So here's our original fog light, and a new fog light from 1A Auto. You can see all the holes and everything are all the same. Your bulb's going to go in there all the same, and it's just going to fit. Obviously, if your fog light got broken by a rock or something this is what you need, or maybe you just want to freshen up the car. You can see our new one is quite a bit clearer and brighter than the old one. So, reinstallation is pretty quick. Put the fog light up in there, put it on those plastic studs, and push it onto the bumper tab there. Start the speed nuts, and put our 8mm bolt in. Actually, you put the bulb in, then the 8mm bolt. Then just one tip: If you put a new one in, there's a space here between here. This is the adjusting screw, and you can adjust it up and down, and there's a space between the light assembly and the bracket, and on your new light you want to just set that at the same as the old light, and that'll be a good preliminary aim.
