Delphi Automotive Parts
Back in 1988, in order to unify its part-manufacturing divisions, General Motors (GM) established the Automotive Components Group (ACG Worldwide). While many of its smaller operations that produced parts like vacuum pumps and starter motors were sold off, many more lucrative and essential operations, like chassis building and lighting, remained under GM control. In 1992, ACG branched off as a separate business group to manage the remaining operations. These included businesses like Saginaw Steering, Packard Electric, and Delco Electronics. The Automotive Components Group’s formation became official in 1994 when GM finished selling its smaller operations. A year later, the name changed to Delphi Automotive Systems.
In 1999, Delphi became a publicly held corporation. In 2002, its name changed to the Delphi Corporation. Delphi supplies many OES (Original Equipment Supplier) parts for automotive manufacturers. Some of these parts include ignition products like ignition cables, coils, and terminals, fuel cell technology and assemblies, sensors like mass air flow (MAF) and ABS sensors, connection systems, and more.
