Brought to you by 1AAuto.com, your source for quality replacement parts and the best service on the internet. In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the license plate light, both the bulb and the light itself on the 2002 GMC Sierra, this is the same for pretty much any Sierra, Silverado, Tahoe, Yukon and Suburban of this generation.
To replace the license plate lights, if you're just looking to change your bulb, you reach back in here, you can feel the back of it and you twist the connector counterclockwise, now you can see here's the bulb right here. The bulb pulls out and pushes back into replace it. A lot of times you'll step on here or kind of miss the trailer when you're backing up and wipe out these lights.
You can either use a screwdriver or your hands. You push the light back and pull it out. You can see just a little clip on this end and it comes out. At 1A Auto, we sell the new ones. Ours comes in chrome, so maybe get a pair if you wanted to match. Push it in, then just give it a quick nudge with the heel of your hand. Just turn back up in there, get it to go in. Twist a little clockwise and you are all set.
We hope this helps you out. Brought to you by www.1AAuto.com, your source for quality replacement parts and the best service on the internet. Please feel free to call us toll free 888-844-3393. We're the company that's here for you on the internet and in person.

All right, to take out the plate light assembly, there is a clip on this side and a little latch on this side. So if you could push this forward, try to get it to slide out, and use a trim tool. Oh, that broke off. This slides out. It's kinda hard if you have a trailer hitch to actually remove it so if you try pushing that in, then you should be able to get that to release. This part will break.
This is how it looks on the new one. So it slides in the back, and it latches on that side. Take the old one, twist out the bulb, the socket assembly. You can take the bulb out. Replace the bulb while you're doing this. This is a 194 bulb. Slide it back in position, take the socket, and twist it. And then we're gonna slide it on like this. It's gonna slide in the back first and then push it on this way just like that.

Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the license plate light, both the bulb and the lens on this 2011 Chevy Silverado 1500. It's the same process on a large variety of GM trucks from 2001 to 2012. You won't need any tools for this job.
Here is your license plate light. Go up behind it, and when you reach up behind it you see there's a little tab there. Reach up and push that tab in and pop the light out. You can just pull it right out.
To change the bulb, twist the socket, pull the bulb out, push the new one in, and then twist it back in. If you do need a new lens you can see 1A Auto has exact matches, and it's exactly the same.
Twist the socket back in, push the parking light right back into place, and you're all set.
