There are pros and cons. First thing. This is not a direct fit. It's about a inch and a half too long. Definitely needs modified. Upon close examination I took off the original, snapped the end nearest the hinge in place. Then I took the other end off the original, put it on the new, the one hole lined up and I drilled a new hole with a self tapping 5/ 16 bolt headed screw. In essence shifting the support an inch and a half. The pro is: the cylindrical body of the apparatus is significantly larger; so this is definitely a better product than the original if you don't mind modifying. The geometry accommodates the new position of the end. All in all I'm pleased with the outcome.
