Hey, I'm Brian, I'm here to give you guys a little tutorial on some window regulators. The specific design is the scissor design. We actually get a lot of calls on these products here and the common question is: The part I received seems different than the part in my vehicle.
The scissor design actually has a flip design and we're actually going to show you how to fix this here. The most common thing that you want to do, or the first step you want to do is lay the parts out side by side. Try not to match them up in the car because this can get confusing. Take it out, lay them side by side, and what you actually see here is a same exact part for the same model vehicle in the same door. As the appearance shows here, they seem to be mirrored.
If you look down at the bottom here, we have the power window motor. This is the piece that is actually powered to lift and lower your glass. The next section down here is . you actually have your gear drive. Here's your mounting plates on both. As you can see, it's identical. You have your tension spring here. If you notice on the upper section here, it's kind of reversed. You're going to think normally, I get the wrong side door. You're going to give us a call and you want to express that to one of our customer service reps. I'm going to show you how to fix this.
Basically, pick this up by the base and you want to scissor or flip. This is how you're going to fix the issue. It's going to actually match the component as shown there. You can now see that both of these components here are the same part and you're ready for installation.

Hi, I'm Mike Green. I'm one of the owners of 1A Auto. I want to help you save time and money repairing or maintaining your vehicle. I'm going to use my 20-plus years experience restoring and repairing cars and trucks like this to show you the correct way to install parts from 1AAuto.com. The right parts installed correctly: that's going to save you time and money. Thank you and enjoy the video.
In this video, we're going to show you a rear power window regulator replacement on this 2000 Honda Accord, the same as any '98 to '02. The tools you'll need are a flat blade screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver, a 10mm socket and ratchet with an extension and some painter's tape.
There's two Phillips screws that you have to remove, one in behind here. Be careful with these doors. That one's broken off. Then there's one right down in here, right underneath there. Once you have those screws out, just take this panel, shake it back and forth a little bit, pull it up, and pull it back and out. Then your power window has a little button right here, press that button, disconnect that. Your door handle slide it forward, pull it out. Oh, there goes a little cover, there's a clip right here, use a screwdriver or your thumb, pull that clip off, pull that rod up and your handle's off. Then basically, you either want to use, you can use a screwdriver or a door panel clip tool or a putty knife stick it in behind here, find the pins and pull them or you can just grab hold of your door panel and give a good quick tug. Some of the clips fell out. That's all right. Then your door panel comes up and off. There's your courtesy light right back here, twist it counterclockwise, take it off. Okay, what you heard after I pulled the door panel, which is one of these clips came out. They just go right into the door panel, clip in like that.
Okay, now remove this screw here. Then there's a screw underneath as well. Now, carefully pull your water shield. I'll fast forward here as I pull that water shield back. You do want to be careful with it. You want to try to stretch as little as possible and you definitely want to try not to rip it, that's what keeps the moisture out of your door panel. Actually my window regulator is fine but if your window regulator were to break or your window motor were to stop working when the window's in the up position, mostly what you want to do is, basically, just unbolt these four bolts here. We'll speed it up again here as we remove three of those bolts. I'm going to disconnect my lead here and push this clip through. You see even as I loosen that screw the window started moving so I want to hold onto the top of it. Then you let your window down slowly. Okay, now it's resting on the regulator. Then you can either reach in here and there are a couple of bolts or you can position your regulator and let the window come down. Let's see here. The problem I'm running into is there's not enough room for my regulator. I'm holding the regulator up here and letting the window down slowly. As you can see there's a bolt there that you need to remove and then if you lift your regulator up and out of the way, there's a bolt right in and down in there that you need to remove. I did say remove but actually you need to loosen these. They are 10mm as well. Okay, then once you've loosened those, you can take your regulator track and slide it out and then pull it free from the window and then what you want to do is your window can now lift up. Get it right into place. You just want to hold it and now after that you can take your regulator and pull it through there.
This one is working fine in this vehicle so I'm just going to reinstall it. Reinstallation is just a reverse of the procedure. Put it up in. What I'm going to do is I'm going to start one of my bolts, right up here. Remember I had my regulator all the way up so I'm going to reconnect my lead. I turned my key on, connect my switch here and I'm going to run the regulator all the way down. That will make it easier to install. You can see you're actually . the way that it's designed to install is you have these two bolts in. These, as you can see, are the two bolts closest to the motor and then you hang it up right in here. Now we'll speed it up here as I just put the other two bolts that hold the regulator in and then tighten them up and when you tighten them up, they don't have to be extremely tight but you want them good and snug.
Now, we'll get up and remove our tape. Slide your window slowly down and then you have this track down here that once your window gets to a certain point, you can see I've got that one on there but not slid yet and I'm working on this on here and up and then slide the track over. We'll speed it up again here. We're just tightening up those bolts that hold the track to the window and then we're sticking our water shield back into place. Then make sure we reinstall all of the armrest base bracket. Put your door panel back on. Go ahead and plug in your courtesy light back in, make sure that's coming right up through. Put your panel up on there, make sure you got your lock coming through, against the window and down. Now you just want to check around the perometer and make sure that your pins are lining up. I'm just looking at them in the front and then I turn my attention towards the back, making sure the pins are lined up and then you just tap the panel in with the back of your hand. Connect our window switch. We'll fast forward through putting those screws back in and make sure you replace the little trim covers and you are all set
