Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to change the 4x4 selector switch on this 2002 GMC Sierra 2500 HD. It's pretty much the same as any '01 to '02 GMC Sierra, Yukon XL, Chevy Avalanche, and Suburban. The only tools you'll need are two small flat blade screwdrivers.
First off, what you want to do is you want to put the truck into first gear, and then that allows you to pry off this back panel. You just want to remove that.
Next, what you want to do is you just want to use those two flat blade screwdrivers to pry out that switch. Using one of those flat blade screwdrivers, just pry out that little connector there, and you want to do that same thing to the other side. Just push in the tab and pull it out.
Okay, to reinstall, just reconnect those two connectors and push the switch back into place. Next, you'll just want to put the truck back into first gear. That way you can get that panel back on. We'll fast-forward as he puts the panel back on. Then when you're done with that, you just want to put the vehicle back into park.
