Your sway bar helps your vehicle's suspension performance. The main purpose is to reduce body roll when going through a turn at speed. Although the sway bar itself is not a wearable item, the end links & frame bushings are.

  1. step : Removing the Wheel (0:30)
    • Loosen the 19mm lug nuts with the vehicle on the ground
    • Raise the vehicle with a floor jack
    • Secure the vehicle on jack stands
    • Remove the lug nuts
    • Pull off the wheel
  2. step : Removing the Sway Bar Link (1:06)
    • Use an 18mm wrench to hold the stud in place
    • Use a 15mm socket with a ratchet to untighten the nut
    • Repeat the process for the other end of the link
    • Pull out one end of the link
    • Twist it around, then pull of the other end
  3. step : Reinstalling the Sway Bar Link (2:31)
    • Insert one end of the link
    • Insert the other end
    • Hand tighten the nuts on both ends
    • Use a 14mm wrench to hold the stud
    • Use a 15mm socket and ratchet to tighten the nuts
    • Torque the nuts to 23 ft-lbs
  4. step : Reinstalling the Wheel (4:16)
    • Slide the wheel into place
    • Start the lug nuts by hand
    • Tighten the lug nuts preliminarily
    • Lower the vehicle to the ground
    • Tighten the lug nuts to between 90 foot-pounds in a crossing or star pattern
  5. step : Reinstalling the sway bar link (2:31)
    • Insert one end of the link
    • Insert the other end
    • Hand tighten the nuts on both ends
    • Use a 14mm wrench to hold the stud
    • Use a 15mm socket and ratchet to tighten the nuts
    • Torque the nuts to 23 ft-lbs
  6. step : Reinstalling the wheel (4:16)
    • Put the wheel back on the car
    • Thread on the lug buts by hand
    • Use a 19mm socket to tighten them as much as possible while off the ground
  7. step : Lowering the vehicle (4:31)
    • Use the jack to take the vehicle off the jack stands
    • Lower the car to the ground
  8. step : Torque down the lug nuts (4:34)
    • Torque the lug nuts to 90 ft-lbs in a star pattern
