  1. step : Removing the Oxygen Sensor (0:43)
    • Disconnect the oxygen sensor wiring harness
    • Remove the oxygen sensor with the oxygen sensor socket and a ratchet
    • If the oxygen sensor socket does not work, cut the oxygen sensor wire with wire cutters
    • Remove the oxygen sensor with a regular 7/8 inch socket
  2. step : Installing the New Oxygen Sensor (2:11)
    • Put the new oxygen sensor into place
    • Thread the oxygen sensor in by hand
    • Tighten the oxygen sensor with the oxygen sensor socket and a ratchet
    • Reconnect the oxygen sensor wiring harness

Usually, oxygen sensor will not affect performance. It will, however negatively and significantly affect fuel consumption, because the cars computer will not allow optimal leaning of mixture if the O2 sensor is defective.

A bad o2 sensor can cause a loss of HP, poor acceleration, back firing, misfiring, and can potentially blow up a muffler.

If the O2 sensor is bad will it cause the cause to burn fuel fast? That’s the problem i am having i burn thru a full tank of gas in a day cause i drive 40 miles to work one way and i know it shouldn’t burn that much being that it is a stick shift it is a 2002 Nissan Altima 4 cylinder 2.5L

We are unable to diagnose any issues with the vehicle. The easiest way to determine the issue would to be to take a scan tool and check to see what codes come up.

Easy fix
Had to replace one of my O2 sensor. Bought the 2 O2 sensors and replaced. Pretty easy to replace. No more engine light on.
