In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the AC and heater fan motor on this 2004 Dodge Ram. Generally if your fan just stops working, that's usually a sign that the blower motor has burnt out. Also, please just check your fuse beforehand before you go replacing the blower motor. If you just lose a speed or two, in your fan, that's your resister, and check out our other video for that. The only tool you'll need is either a T20 torx driver or an 8mm socket and ratchet.
Your fan is right here just inside the passenger door at the passenger's feet. It's right down here. It's held in by T20 torx screws. Okay. I'll speed up going through this. They actually are, also, 8mm bolts, so you could use an 8mm socket with a ratchet and extension. All right. Then the motor comes down. Just push on your kick panel a little bit. It comes down, and then here is your lead. Push nice and firm right there. Pull it out. And the motor's out.
Here's our original fan. New fan from 1A Auto. You can see everything's all the same. The new fan from 1A Auto is just newer, and it's going to work for you. So all the same. You can see that the connections are exactly the same. It's going to bolt in, hook up, and work just fine. So the first thing I'm going to do is take my lead, and just kind of make sure it's really out of my way. Then just put the fan up in here. It's got kind of a triangle over on that side that goes kind of towards the inside of the vehicle and towards the front. Put it up in. Start my easiest screw here first.
And we'll speed it up here, as we just feed the other two screws in, and then tighten them up with our torx driver, and again you can use an 8mm socket and ratchet with extension if you want to. Then you tighten them up firm. They don't have to be extremely tight. You are just going into plastic. And then plug in our lead. Turn on our key. Working well.

Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the blower motor and fan in your 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. Here are the items you'll need for this repair: 8mm socket; ratchet.
Your blower motor is located below the passenger side of the dashboard, just behind the glove box. Disconnect the electrical connector, and remove the three eight millimeter bolts. There's one in the back here that you're not going to be able to see. We're going to use an eight millimeter socket ratchet and extension. Remove the blower motor from the HVAC box.
Here we have our old part that we removed from our vehicle and our new part from 1AAuto.com. As you can see, we have the exact same size fan cage here, as well as the same base and mounting locations, same motor, and the same two pin connector on the bottom. What can happen sometimes is the motors wear out and either won't operate, or they'll be loud, either from a bad motor or this fan becoming out of balance and humming. It may work intermittently. It could come on and off as you go over bumps, or if you give it a good hit on the bottom. It could shock it awake and get it to spin again. While these things may only be minor annoyance if they're working intermittently, this part is very simple to change. It will get your heat or A/C blowing correctly and quietly, just like it should.
Install your new blower motor into the HVAC box. Reinstall the three bolts. Tighten the bolts up with your eight millimeter socket ratchet and extension. Reconnect the electrical connector.
Thanks for tuning in. We hope this video helped you out. Next time you need parts for your car, please visit 1AAuto.com. Also check out our other helpful how-to and diagnosis videos.
