Hi, I'm Mike Green. I'm one of the owners of 1A Auto. I want to help you save time and money repairing or maintaining your vehicle. I'm going to use my 20-plus years experience restoring and repairing cars and trucks like this to show you the correct way to install parts from 1AAuto.com. The right parts installed correctly: that's going to save you time and money. Thank you and enjoy the video.
In this video, we'll be showing you how to remove and replace the outside door handle on this 2006 Ford F-150, same as any '04 to '08. The tools you'll need to do this are some 5-10mm metric sockets with ratchet and extension . 7/32s and 5/16s work for some of those ., small flat blade screwdriver, and putty knife and a rag to protect your paint.
We're going to fast forward through removing the door panel. You can probably pick up enough here to get the job done but we do have this in a regular speed on our other videos. Basically, you've got to remove the door panel and then you can get to the outside door handle. To access the inside of the door panel, what you want to do is carefully remove your plastic. It's just stuck on by a bunch of sticky stuff. Just pull it carefully. You don't want to rip this at all because you won't be able to install it just the way it was. I remove the plastic and then I lay it out nice and flat because we don't want to get in all stuck to itself.
To access your exterior door handle, there are two bolts right here. They are covered by little plugs. I've removed one. What I recommend, to do as little damage as possible to these parts, is to work the screwdriver underneath, then into the door and then pop it. You're going to remove that 10mm screw. Now, I apologize. I didn't get a good shot of these two more 10mm bolts holding the front of the door handle on and normally, I'd take a shot of them but I hit the wrong button. You remove those 10mm nuts and go from there. You can reach right up in there, take these nuts off the rest of the way. Make sure you don't drop them. Now, once your door handle's unbolted . and notice I don't the door closed here ., you pull out the front of it and slide it forward a little bit and then you twist it and you're also kind of pushing down on it very carefully, and that actually comes right out.
Then, to put it back in. Here's your rod here, pull on it, bring it up and you can actually go this way, get that in underneath, twist it back, push it back and then in. I'll do a quick test. Now just bolt it back in. After you've bolted the door handle back in and tighten up, just make sure you got your little plugs back in. Now, we're ready to put the water shield back on. What you want to do-- there are just a few reference points here . you want to make sure we line up those reference points. Basically, you stick it into the same spot. Like taking off the door panel, we're going to just going to fast forward through putting on the water shield and then installing the door panel.
We hope this helps you out. Please think of 1A Auto for all your parts needs.

Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace a rear exterior door handle on this 2005 Ford F150, and we show you on the driver's side but the passenger's side is the same procedure, and the items you'll need for this are a new rear exterior door handle from 1AAuto.com; a 6, 8, and 10 millimeter socket and ratchet with an extension; flat blade screwdriver; and a 5.5 millimeter or a 7/32 socket.
Pry out on the small panel behind the door handle. Then pry up on this panel, and just pull it forward. Lift it up and push the tab on the harness and disconnect it. Then pull out on this panel and pull it free. It helps to use the flat blade screwdriver and just pry it free. Remove the 6mm bolt, these two 8mm bolts, this 10mm bolt, and then these two 6mm bolts down here. We'll fast-forward as Mike does that. Now lift the door panel up and pull it out. Then you want to pull out your door handle cable. It's easiest with a flat blade screwdriver to pry it out. Then unclip it from the door handle, and your door handle's free. Then remove these 5.5mm or 7/32 bolts from your speaker. You may notice that we switched doors. We're just going to show you the procedure on this door that actually has a water shield. Pull your speaker out, and then just push the tab on the harness and disconnect it. Then just peel back your water shield.
Now remove this 10 millimeter bolt and just pull that bracket out. Now reach back here and with a flat blade screwdriver. You want to just pry this green clip open and pull the rod out. Now pry off these cap and then remove this 10 millimeter nut, this 10 millimeter nut right in here, and then these two 10 millimeter bolts on the side. We'll fast forward as Mike removes those. Pull the door handle out and lift it up and out, and then just twist this rod out.
Up top is the old exterior door handle; below it is the new one from 1A Auto. You can see they're identical and they'll fit exactly the same. This rod inserts from this side. Put it down in. These tabs go back and then the studs in the front feed in. We'll fast forward as Mike replaces those two 10 millimeter nuts and the two 10 millimeter bolts and tightens them up. Now just put the door handle rod back into that green clip and reclip it, and then take this bracket, put it back into place, and replace and tighten up that 10 millimeter bolt.
Now replace your water shield. Reconnect your speaker. Push it back into place and then replace those four 5.5mm bolts and tighten them up. To replace your door panel, just re-clip the door handle cable into the door handle and then push it back into place. Make sure these clips stay into the door. Then line up the tabs on the back and make sure that the lock rod goes up through the door panel and that your harness for your window switch is coming up through that hole in the door panel. Then push the door panel down into place. We'll fast-forward as Mike replaces all of those bolts. Now replace the small panel behind the door handle, reconnect your window switch, push those tabs into place, and push the panel back down. Then line this panel up, slide it down into the door panel, and push those two clips back into place. You're all set.
