What are Tapered Bearings and Why Use Them?

Tapered bearings are better than roller ball bearings at handling forces exerted on the bearing during cornering (known as axial load) in trucks and large cars.

Roller ball bearings have spherical ball bearings between two straight rings (called races). Tapered bearings use tapered rollers shaped like flat-topped cones and two races angled from the outside to the inside of the bearing. The greater the angle, the more axial load the bearing can handle.

Your model came from the factory with tapered bearings. This type of bearing handles cornering forces better for trucks and large cars. Roller ball bearings work well for smaller cars, but replacing a tapered bearing with a roller ball bearing will result in increased wear and faster failure.

Bearings and Hubs
After getting the right stuff had to order 3 different times to finally get the right one for my 2002 Dodge Durango slt plus 4 wheel drive they fit right but had to order for two wheel Abs instead of four wheel abs which is what the site told me to order so on the third time They finally got it right The first two times I ordered for 4 wheel abs and they sent me hub bearings that had no wires on them for the abs to plug into.

Great Company and parts!
This is the first time I have replaced wheel bearings. With the help of the video I was able to know what to expect and had an idea of how I was going to approach the project. I ended up only replacing once side as I found out the driver side had already been done recently but I have a spare anyway. Ive only been driving on this for a few days but all seems to be great with the installation and part. The part seems to be a good quality ! 1A saved me a bunch of Money all around ...thank you very much and I will be doing business with you again !

does anyone know how long the wheel last ? Do they wear out very fast

I’ve had mine on my truck for over a year now and we’ll over 20000 miles. I beat the crap out of my truck and they have seemed to hold up just fine. I know that’s not that long of a time but that’s my input.
