Tools Needed:
- Phillips Head Screwdriver
- T27 Torx Bit
- Flat Blade Screwdriver
- Putty Knife and Rag
Repair Steps:
- The first step in this power window switch repair job is to remove the two Phillips head screws, the one in the door handle recess and the one by the side view mirror. Next, remove two T27 Torx screws up under the door pull. Pull out and forward on the panel behind the door handle. Use a flat blade screwdriver to pry the switch out from the panel.
- Using a putty knife covered with a rag, work in between the door panel and the door at the inside. Gently pry the door panel from the door until the pins on that side pop out. You can then continue to pull the door panel out from the door along the edges with your hands. Lift up on the door panel and pull away from the door.
- Using a flat blade screwdriver at the back of the door panel push in on the mirror and window switch connector tabs while pulling out with your hand. The door panel is now free from the vehicle.
- Remove three screws from the metal plate on the back of the door panel and remove the metal plate. Remove one screw from the bottom of the door pull handle on the front of the door panel and remove the bottom bezel.
- From the back of the door panel start at the back end of the power window switch plate and push it up through the door panel. Work your way toward the front pushing in the locking tabs and pushing the switch up through the door panel. You can now begin to work it out from the front of the door panel as well.
- To remove the power window switch from the bezel first release the two thumb tabs and then use a flat blade screwdriver to pry up the small tab on the other end. The switch should come free of the bezel.
- Install the new power window switch by pushing the switch back into the bezel. Push the bezel back into the door panel making sure that all the locking tabs go down into the door. Reinstall bottom bezel with Phillips screw. Reinstall metal plate with three Phillips screws.
- To reinstall the door panel, push the mirror and window switch connectors back in. Make sure power door lock connector / switch is through the door handle hole and line up the top of the door panel with the door. Push the door panel down into place and push the pins in around the edge of the panel. Push the door lock button into the door handle panel. Reinstall the door handle panel by pushing the back in first and then the front. Reinstall and tighten the two Phillips and two T27 Torx screws.
