ALL CAME TOGETHER AT THE END OF IT

WHILE THE ENTIRE THING SEAMED SCARY, AND IT WAS. THE TECH HELP FROM THESE GUYS WAS AWESOME. THEY KNEW ABOUT LITTLE THINGS I DID NOT UNDERSTAND. GREAT BUNCH OF TECHS, THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PROGRAM, REPROGRAM, RECOGNIZE AND RELEARN. ALSO, WHILE I DID NOT HAVE A CHIP IN THE KEY ITSELF, THERE IS SOMETHING IN "THEFT FEATURE" SCARY BUT THEY GOT ME TURNING KEY AND CAR STARTING.

Ask a question to 1A Auto customers who purchased the product
Does the ignition requires any type of chip?
February 3, 2016
10
Hello, This part does not require a chip for operation.
February 4, 2016
10
I Installed the ignition switch and lock cylinder assembly in my 05 Chevy classic and it was plug and play. The only thing that needed to happen in addition to i stallation was to reset the security feature. Instructions for that are common online.
February 4, 2016
10
This ignition does not require any additional chips/etc. you must program the new code by turning the ignition on/off several times. Instructions should be included, or go to You Tube and find the instructions. It's really pretty simple.
February 4, 2016
10
It shouldn't... I never bothered with coding the key ring Inside the switch. Our car starts no problem, but it has the security light on the dash.... But it started right up. We replaced it more cause many of the cars comfort functions weren't working, after much trial and error. I isolated problem to the ignition switch.

My ignition is locked what's the best way to get the key to turn?
October 5, 2017
10
Wiggle the wheel back and forth while turning the key. In order to unlock the steering wheel, insert the key into the ignition and attempt to turn it. While applying light pressure to the key, wiggle the steering wheel back and forth until the lock disengages

Hello. This is strictly from my experience. I hope this helps. The tumblers may be worn out. I had to replace the lock cylinder on mine. I bought the lock cylinder with the set from 1Aauto, because I didn't have time to reset the tumblers. The lock cylinder, ignition switch, and key set from 1Aauto is a great deal!!! If you bought the parts separately from the parts stores, you'd be thowing away money. Watched the video. That's what I did. Again, I hope this helps. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
October 9, 2017
do this fit a 2001 Chevy Monte Carlo ss 3.8 engine?
October 26, 2017
10
Yes, this will fit.

2002 Chevy Impala security light on won't start .. will the ignition switch and new key fix it?
March 13, 2018
10
If your original key is really warn down, the tumblers and contacts inside the switch are probably shot as well. Replacing this fixed my problem. Still have the theft light on, for some reason. But starts just fine, every time. Now use the original key for the door, and new key for the ignition.

Lost key to vehicle. Will the new ignition switch & lock cylinder assembly with key?
August 11, 2018
10
This kit comes as pictured with the key. Thank you!
August 11, 2018
10
The new switch and cylinder come with two keys. Unfortunately they will not operate the door locks. I replaced my switch because it was defective not because of a lost key. Rather than "re-tumble" the new switch to accomodate my old key, I just decided to go with separate keys for the ignition and the doors. I would contact a dealer, maybe they can produce a replacement key using your VIN.
August 12, 2018
10
It does come with a new set of keys. But the existing cylinder in our Chevy Monte Carlo needed the current key to be able to turn and unlock a cable assembly. Ours would not turn so I used a Dremel tool with a metal cutter to cut the old cylinder apart to unlock that assembly.
August 13, 2018
10
yes, but only for the ignition, save your old keys for the doors and trunk
August 14, 2018
10
The keys that come with the new ignition switch WILL NOT OPEN THE DOORS/TRUNK. If you"ve lost your keys, go to a dealer and provide the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). For a price, they will provide you with a new set of keys for your car.
August 18, 2018
Lost key for Monte Carlo? Can a new ignition switch and lock cylinder assembly with key work?
August 11, 2018
10
Yes this kit should work if you lost your old keys!
August 13, 2018
Does the car have to turn on to replace the part?
February 24, 2019
10
The installation process does require the car to be turned on to work properly.
February 24, 2019
