Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the 4-wheel drive actuator on this 2011 Chevy Silverado 1500. It's the same process on a large variety of GM 4-wheel drive vehicles. The items you'll need for this is a new 4-wheel drive actuator from 1AAuto.com, a 15mm socket and ratchet, a flat blade screwdriver, and adjustable pliers.
If you go under truck . you don't need to necessarily lift it. We did that so it would be easier to show you. If you go under there you can see actuator is right here. You're going to actually have to remove this plate right here. It's held in by four 15mm bolts. There are two there and there are these two right here. Take a flat blade screwdriver, pry up the top of that clip, and pull it off. Then, using your adjustable pliers, just turn the entire actuator and it will twist out. We'll fast forward as he twists this the rest of the way out.
The old actuator is in the back, the new one from 1A Auto is up front. You can see it has the same plugs, same everything. They'll fit in exactly the same way. Now you just want to take that 4-wheel drive actuator and twist it back into place. Reconnect that harness. Then put that panel back up into place. We'll fast forward as he replaces those four 15mm bolts. When that's done you're all set.
