Perfect fit, works well, great price
I replaced the switch in my daughter's 2005 Century because the headlights would intermittently go out and the car would occasionally accelerate on its own. Both problems were traced to an issue with this switch (the dimmer and cruise acceleration controls). We've had no issues since. Installation took longer than expected (about 2 1/2 hours), but that was because I was being very careful to not damage any of the interior trim pieces and spent quite a bit of time watching online videos for tips. If I was to do it again, I'm sure I could get it done in 30-45 minutes. Hopefully, the following tips will save the next person some time. I also recommend searching for the online videos, because it helps to watch another person do it.

1. Take the time to remove all of the dash trim, including the felt trim below the driver's side dash, the panel covering the heater controls, the side panels by both door posts, the panel below the steering column, the panel to the right of the glove box and the long piece covering the instrument cluster and radio and that runs above the glove box. There are push clips attaching the felt trim, and 7mm screws at the bottom of the other panels. There is also a 7mm screw under the passenger-side side trim panel (where the fuses are). Otherwise, everything is held in place with snap clips.

2. To remove the bottom half of the steering column trim, remove the two T-25 screws from the bottom. Next remove the tilt lever by gently wiggling it back and forth and up and down while pulling. It snaps in and out without any hardware attaching it. Then gently unsnap the bottom of the trim from the top piece by using your thumbs to flex the seam where they meet. Where the trim meets the steering wheel, you can push it toward the dash to get it to clear the wheel. Try to loosen the end toward the wheel first and then hinge it down to release the end closest to the dash. You will see hinge-like clips that hold the top and bottom together on the dash end.

3. To remove the top trim from the steering column, there is a hidden fastener behind the right side of the steering wheel. From underneath, shine a light up right behind the steering wheel. You will see a small black fastener that looks somewhat like the end of a hex key. Use a 4mm socket on an extension to reach and remove it. Then, with the gear shift all the way down, gently work the trim off the column. Loosen the left side first, then slide it past the ignition.

4. To remove the wire harness from the under dash block into which it is plugged, use a 7mm socket to unscrew the bold in the center of the block. Unplug the block. The two ends of the wire harness slide out of the block, but they are secured by a small plastic tab. Slide the tip of a screwdriver between the connector and the body of the wire block and slide the connector in the direction of the wires. Twist the screwdriver very slightly to allow the connector to clear the plastic tab.

5. The turn signal assembly is attached to the steering column with two T25 screws. One is on the top and easy to access. The other is behind the steering wheel and can be difficult to reach. To remove it, get a T25 drive bit with a 1/4" shank. Put the bit into the head of the screw and then use a small crescent wrench to turn the bit and loosen the screw until you can remove it with your fingers.

Multi-function switch lever replacement
The multi-function switch on my 1999 Buick was not operating completely, as the bright headlights would not say on so my car would not pass the annual State Inspection certification. 1A Auto had the part at a great price and shipping was free. Awesome.

I bought this part online hoping it would fit, and I was pleasantly surprised that when I installed it it was perfect. I watch YouTube videos online and follow their instructions and had it installed in two hours. If I need more parts for my older Buick, I would definitely buy them from

Now comes the difficult part - installation!
The part came in record time, now I just have to get up the nerve to watch all the installation videos and make sure I know what to do. Always a learning curve but sure a ton cheaper than getting it done by someone else. The helpful videos are the key! Keep them coming.
