What are Tapered Bearings and Why Use Them?

Tapered bearings are better than roller ball bearings at handling forces exerted on the bearing during cornering (known as axial load) in trucks and large cars.

Roller ball bearings have spherical ball bearings between two straight rings (called races). Tapered bearings use tapered rollers shaped like flat-topped cones and two races angled from the outside to the inside of the bearing. The greater the angle, the more axial load the bearing can handle.

Your model came from the factory with tapered bearings. This type of bearing handles cornering forces better for trucks and large cars. Roller ball bearings work well for smaller cars, but replacing a tapered bearing with a roller ball bearing will result in increased wear and faster failure.

Great
99% positive. Only thing I can think of would be your listing. 1 place says "hub assembly 1 ea". Another says "sold in pairs"

Great Fit. Great Price.
I replaced both front hubs, rotors and pads for $165! Parts appear to be good quality and fit perfectly. Arrived quickly. Would have been $1,300 at shop.

silverado bearings
the bearings where good and the rotors where also good but the pads metal backing was a little to big and the slot where it fits over holder was to small. After milling the slots a few thousands bigger and trimming off a bit on either side of pad they fit good. overall satisfied with purchase.

Extremely Pleased.
All the parts in the kit were an exact fit for my 2003 chevy 1500 express. The pricing for the kit was the best I could find after checking on line and local auto parts suppliers. What amazed me most was the speed of delivery with free shipping. Ordered on Satirday, parts arrived Monday afternoon. Certainly would recommend this company.

The price is very good for the kit , all parts seem to be of good grade. Installed and completed in 1 day easy. Not bad for a retired 65 year old mech.

So much better than the quote from the parts store locally..if you can wait for the part it's way more beneficial to order this way

kit needs a couple of parts
Have only had them on the Suburban for a few days. everything seems fine. great price and would buy again. My only compliant is that the brake pads do not come with new brake hardware. you should also consider buying new castle nut and hub mounting nuts. if you have to buy them from the dealer they are really pricey.

The other thing to know is that the video shows the hits coming off with a few whacks of a hammer.... not in this universe. look up some youtube videos on how to remove. I used the power steering as a hydraulic press method after about 2 hours with a crow bar.

Mr Horsepower on Oct 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I Can't say they do but I live in the country. I drive on dirt and I use my pickup as equipment. I'm satisfied with these very much and pice was great.
Who makes this kit?
Matt H on Sep 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: We have a few different aftermarket companies build these parts specifically for us, as our 1A Auto house brand. They are manufactured to the same OEM specifications as the original part that came with your vehicle. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
will this fit the 5.3 liter engine?
aaron s on Apr 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Breaks are based on tonnage not engine. If you have a 1500 4WD in the proper year range this should fit; if you have a 2500 or 2WD it will not. Check the OEM numbers listed against your model.
Do you have this pad/rotor/hub kit for a 2004 2WD Tahoe?
