The oxygen sensor(s) in your vehicle is mounted in the exhaust manifold and/or the exhaust pipe close to the engine. Some vehicles have more that one sensor. The O2 sensor "sniffs" the exhaust and sends a message back to the vehicle's computer or emission system. This message is a recommendation of how much fuel or air the fuel injection or carburetor should be providing to the engine. Oxygen sensors are designed to operate in their harsh environment.
