How to check your tire pressure, and why properly inflating your tires will reduce your help your fuel mileage
Checking your tire pressures is an important part of vehicle maintenance, but did you know it can also help the environment? Keeping your tire pressures up to spec, which you can find inside of your vehicle's doorjamb or gas store and checking them regularly with a tire pressure gauge can help reduce rolling resistance. This increases your vehicle's fuel economy as well as the longevity of your tire. Keeping these pressures up with compressed air from either a compressor, a portable pump, or a gas station pump can help save you money and save the environment. Andy diagnoses a top end clicking ticking noise in our Chevy Avalanche! Andy locates the clicking noise to the top driver side of the 5.3L V8 engine, and discovers an intermittent misfire in cylinder 1. After removing the valve cover, he finds a very loose rocker, the source of our noise. He determines the rocker is loose because its lifter has collapsed, meaning it's not pushing up on the rocker when activated by the camshaft. The fault is in the AFM (active fuel management) lifter.
