Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto and just wanted to share with you a little bit of a tech tip. Sometimes if you're doing some wiring you may want to bring an aftermarket wire through a OEM style grommet like this. What you can do is use a little piece of wire, copper wire, or even a paper clip.
So we'll take our paper clip, get a little hook in the end, and push it through. Okay, then on this end, put the wire through the hook, and then we'll actually take it and make another, basically a loop around so there's nothing that can get stuck, so that the paperclip won't get stuck in the grommet as we pull. Then just to help it along a little bit, use little tiny bit of white grease to help squeeze everything through there. We'll just make this as small as possible, and we'll feed the wire in as we pull. Then once the wire comes through stop pulling with the paperclip and pull more on the wire itself.
Okay, then the head goes through. Sometimes you can take these little connectors off to make it easy. This one's so small that we can just kind of get it going into the connector and pull it through. Okay, and now the wire is through the grommet, you can use the original grommet as it was intended and get on with your project.
