step 1 :Removing the Windshield Washer Pump
- Remove the three T25 Torx screws inside the wheel well
- Pull back the inner fender
- Have a drain pan ready
- Pull the pump up and out of its bracket
- Disconnect the washer pump wiring harness
- Disconnect the pump from its hoses

step 2 :Installing the New Windshield Washer Pump
- Remove the white pump nozzle piece from the old pump
- Install the nozzle piece onto the new pump
- Connect the black hose to the black pump nozzle
- Connect the white hose to the orange pump nozzle
- Connect the washer pump wiring harness
- Push the pump into place on the windshield washer fluid reservoir
- Refill the fluid reservoir, using a funnel

In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the washer pump on this 2003 Volkswagen Passat. The only tool you'll need is a T25 Torx driver. You'll also want a catch pan.
Inside the wheel well you'll find three T25 Torx screws. You want to remove those. Pull this back and your windshield washer motor is right there. You'll notice in these next shots that the front bumper cover is off. That's not necessary at all. I just had it off to do another repair so I figured it was a lot easier to film and show you what was going on without the bumper cover there. All you need to do is move that inner fender out of the way and you can access the pump easily. Your pump is right here in front of the wheel and what you do is reach up, pull up and out and you can see as you pull out, your fluid's going to come out, so you want a catch pan underneath. You can disconnect your motor by pushing on a tab here, and one there and then disconnect these two lines. Then with your pump, this part, pull firmly and wiggle it back and forth. That comes off and installs on your new pump.
Put this back on. Black end goes to the black hose. The orange end goes to the white hose. Put this back in place and push your pump back in and then force it right back down in there. You use a funnel with the filter. This funnel has a little filter in it so I can just take it and put my fluid right back in.
