Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you rear passenger door inside door handle replacement. This is a 2007 Audi A4, and it's same procedure for most A4s of this generation. You'll need a 10mm wrench, Phillips screwdriver, T20 Torx driver, and a small flat blade screwdriver. We do this on the passenger side, but the driver's side is the same procedure.
Disconnect your battery. On this car there should be a panel on top that you take off a couple of fasteners and lift it up and off. Then loosen and remove the negative battery cable with a 10mm wrench.
You can either use a flat blade screwdriver, or you can just reach back here and pull this trim panel off. Just pull it straight out. Then work your fingers under, and then it comes forward at the back. Four screws hold it in. There's one up under here, and then one here, here, and here. Phillips screwdriver to remove those. It's a little difficult. Sometimes you've just got to feel for the screw once you have the right angle. Then we'll just fast forward as we remove those fasteners.
Then just reach underneath. This one's not even clipped in. You should reach underneath and pull, and they'll pop out. But obviously this door panel's been off before, so it just comes off. There are clips at the top. You should be able to pull it right up and off. Pull the door panel out, and then your door handle cable here, just pull it out of the clip and then just unhook it. On the speaker, there are two tabs that you push in. Then on this, there's a tab on the back side that you have to push really firm with your finger and pull down. You want to disconnect the switch, and then remove the nine T20 screws that hold the arm rest in place. Press the tab, and just pull out.
We'll just fast-forward as we remove those fasteners. Just lift up and take your armrest out. Remove your LED light. Twist slightly, pull down, and then remove this T20 Torx screw. This tab's still holding it in, so just use a small screwdriver, work it in there, and we'll push this down in, and it comes out.
Then put your new handle in. Okay, make sure it's all good from the back side. This is locked in. We'll put the T20 screw back in place and reconnect our LED. Put your arm rest back in place, and then reinstall the nine T-20 screws. We'll just fast-forward as we tighten up those fasteners. Reconnect your window harness in place.
Re-installation: reconnect your speaker harness, the module harness. Again, that clip goes towards the back. Bring the panel up, reconnect the door latch cable. Just hook it in and then push this in to place. This protrusion on the door panel goes into this grove, and then this hooks over there so just lift the panel up into place. Hook the front in. Push it against the window and down, and then lock these two top hooks in and then all the rest of the clips.
Then you've got to try and put it up in there in the right angle. Then hopefully you find the hole the first time. Then this hooks into the back. Just make sure all your clips are in place. Sometimes these will pull out. Sometimes they'll pull out and get stuck on the clip. Just pull it off the clip and push it back into the door. Clip that in place. Peek in behind. Make sure they're all going into the right hole.
Reconnect your battery. Tighten it up with a 10mm wrench, and then reinstall the panel that should be there.
