step 1 :Removing the Door Panel
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal
- Pry off the silver panel with a flat blade screwdriver
- Remove the four Phillips screws from the door panel
- Remove the Phillips screw underneath the panel
- Pry off the trim cap underneath the arm rest
- Remove the Phillips screw underneath the arm rest
- Pry out the door panel with a door panel clip tool or putty knife and towel
- Lift the door panel up and off
- Unlatch the door handle cable
- Disconnect the window motor wiring harness
- Disconnect the speaker wiring harness

step 2 :Fixing the Door Panel Clips
- Skip this step unless your bottom screw did not come out or the door panel clips fell out
- For the screw, hold its clip with a pair of pliers
- Remove the screw with a Phillips screwdriver
- Reinstall the clip into the door with a hammer if necessary
- Apply glue to any lost clips and insert them back into the door

step 3 :Removing the Power Window Switch
- Disconnect the power window switch wiring harness
- Remove the nine T20 Torx screws from the arm rest
- Carefully pry the switch out with a flat blade screwdriver

step 4 :Installing the Power Window Switch
- Insert the switch into the arm rest
- Insert the arm rest into the door panel
- Tighten the nine T20 Torx screws to the arm rest
- Connect the power window switch wiring harness

step 5 :Reinstalling the Door Panel
- Connect the speaker wiring harness
- Connect the window motor wiring harness
- Latch the door handle cable
- Lift the door panel into place
- Push in the door panel clips
- Insert the Phillips screw underneath the arm rest
- Insert the Phillips screw underneath the panel

In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the power window switch. We're going to be working on the front driver's door on this 2007 Audi A4, same for any '05 to '08 A4, and the switch is the same for other models but the procedure may be a little bit different. For this, you'll need a new switch from 1AAuto.com, a flat blade screwdriver both regular and small, Phillips screwdriver, T20 Torx driver, and, depending on the condition of your panel, you might need some pliers, glue, hammer, and a flashlight, and you'll see how we use those in the video.
There should be a panel covering your battery. Remove that, and then disconnect the negative terminal on your battery.
Remove the trim panel using your flat blade screwdriver. Then locate the six Phillips head screws that hold the door panel on. There's one underneath the panel, four behind the trim panel you removed, and one underneath the arm rest. There should be a cap that you pry off to access the screw. Remove the six screws using your Phillips head screwdriver. The bottom screw sometimes doesn't come out. You can still remove the panel without taking it out.
Now, unclip the panel. Sometimes plastic clips may come loose and fall out. We'll show you what to do with those later. Carefully pull the panel up and off, remove the door handle cable, and then use your flathead screwdriver to loosen and remove the harness from the window motor. Finally, remove the speaker harness from the speaker.
If the screw on the bottom of the panel didn't come out, use a pair of pliers to remove it. You might need to use a hammer to tap the clip back into the door. You might also want to glue in any clips that fell out during the panel removal.
On the back of the door panel, you'll want to unplug your power window switch. There's just a little tab that you press and pull that out, and then nine T20 Torx screws hold the arm rest in place. Now you can remove that arm rest and flip it upside down, and you can see the switch very easily. Four tabs hold the switch in place. You want to work a small screwdriver in there very carefully, don't pry too much. Just pry just enough to come up and out and remove the switch.
On the left is the old switch and on the right is the new one from 1AAuto.com, which will fit just like the original. Push the new switch into place. Put the arm rest back in place on the door panel and then turn around onto the back side, and we'll fast-forward here as we just put those nine screws back in and tighten them up. Reconnect the harness.
Reinstall the speaker wire harness and the power window harness, and reattach the door handle cable. Make sure the lip of the door panel sits inside the groove of the door. Push the panel down firmly, and then lock all other clips back into place. Reinstall the six Phillips head screws. Finally, clip the trim piece back into place. You can now reconnect your battery and replace the panel.
