New Lift Support from 1AAuto.com How to repair, install, fix, change or replace a weak or sagging hood or hatch strut on 07, 08, 09, 10, 11 Toyota Camry
Hi, I’m Mike from 1A Auto. We’ve been selling auto parts for over 30 years!
Open the hood. Pull the release handle. It's down here, above your knee. Release the safety, which is right here. This hood has hood struts. To replace the hood struts, use a small flat blade screwdriver to pull out this lock. There's another lock at the other side. Support the hood and pop that off of the ball mount. Same thing over here. The hood's going to want to close.
Here's our original hood strut from our vehicle and our brand new one from 1AAuto.com. You can see, it's the same length, same style, little ball connectors with the locks. This should fit great and keep your hood up.
I'm actually going to pull these locks out, just so it makes it easier to pop on. When that is in the lock position, those metal tabs slap around the ball stud that it mounts to. It prevents it from popping off, so to make it easier to go on, I'm just going to pop it up a little bit and just slide them down. Do the same thing for this end. I'm going to pull it up and lay it on top of these two little tabs here. Just lift our hood back up. Install the top one first. It's locked into place.
Just down, install the bottom one. Push this lock back up into place. Same side and use the exact same procedure.
