In this video, I'm going to take you through fog light servicing, both just changing the bulb as well as changing the whole fog light if one of them gets broken on you. Tools you'll need include 5/16 and 7/32 sockets with a ratchet and an extension as well as a Phillips screwdriver.
To service the fog lights on your Sable, what you're going to need to do is go up underneath and remove this panel here. It's held in place by a series of 7/32" bolts here, here and then all the way across to the other side, as well as three 5/16" bolts right here. I'm going to fast-forward as I do that. I did find it a little odd, most of fasteners on these cars are metric now, but these seem to work best with standard. As I said, 5/16" for the larger bolts and 7/32" for the smaller ones. You'll see I'm just going to show you service on the passenger's side fog light, so you'll see I take apart a bunch of those bolts and then just pull that panel halfway down.
Now you can see, you can access your bulb just from the backside. Twist it counterclockwise, pull it out, and your bulb disconnects from the harness. Reconnect, and we'll leave that down for now. We're going to need a Phillips screwdriver to remove the light itself. I'll speed it up here as I remove the three screws that hold it: one towards the outside of the vehicle and two kind of towards the inside of the vehicle. Just pull your light out.
Reinstallation is just a reverse of that procedure. Put your light up in, stick the inside in first, and then rotate it in. Speed it up here again as I just put the three Phillips screws back in and tighten them up with a screwdriver.
Reinstall your bulb, twist clockwise to lock it. You can see there's a little notch right here, it's so you can get your screwdriver up in there and aim the bulb. Clockwise aims it down further. Counterclockwise aims it up a little bit.
Then I'll just fast-forward here as I put all the fasteners back in. Notice that I put them in all by hand first, then tighten them up with the wrench afterwards. Also I do have the car up on a lift, that's just to make it easy to film. Obviously you don't need a lift to perform this repair but you will want a nice clean place to work as you'll have to lay on your back quite a bit.
