How To Replace Engine Air Filter 2002-08 Dodge Ram

In this video, we're going to show you how to remove and replace your air filter on this 2004 Dodge Ram, same as most of the Rams from this era. No tools are required.

The air filter on the Dodge Ram is right in here. It's pretty easy; there's little clips that you pull with your thumb. There's four in all: one, two, three and then a fourth one on the back side here. Then you pull up and slide your box. If you slide it back then it comes up like that. Pull out the old filter. That filter is definitely in need of a change. It's very dirty.

At 1A Auto, we sell both the regular filters and the K&N style filter. This is a K&N. Advantages to this are its lifetime. You can actually pull it out, clean it, put it back in. It will last the life of your vehicle, as well as, it breathes a little freer so it offers you some slight horsepower and slight fuel economy, not really all that measurable, but it's nice. Piece fits right in. Put your cover back down. The little tabs on the inside, make sure it gets in all those tabs. Make sure that these tabs come through properly like that. This here goes under like that. Just make sure that the inside hooks are underneath the tabs properly. Push it down. Bring your locks. Lock them over. Sometimes you got to jiggle them a little bit, make sure they're free. Sometimes they'll get stuck. The new filter does offer a little bit more of a seal so it's a little bit tougher to get those on .As we still it here, just one more thing. If you do install K&N, one thing I didn't show is you want to make sure you put a sticker on to the top of your air box just to make sure that somebody that works on the vehicle doesn't just pull your K&N filter out and throw it away because, again, it is reusable.
