Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

In this video, we're going to show you how to remove a front door panel, the inside door panel, on this 1999 Toyota 4Runner. We show you the driver side, but the passenger is basically the same procedure. This is the same procedures for any 1996 to 2002 4Runner that has both power windows and power door locks. The tools you'll need are a small flat blade screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver, and a door panel clip tool or a putty knife.

We'll start with a small screwdriver. Get it right under the front, here. Pry that up, pull this out, and then there are three harnesses to unplug. They each have tabs you press with your thumb and then pull out.

Now, take your screwdriver again, open here, pry it up on the armrest, and it comes out. Now, use your Phillips screwdriver and undo the screw here. You see there are actually three screws removed: the one in that door handle, and then the two near where you pull on the door. Then there's a little pin right back here. You push the center of it in, and then use either a screwdriver or finger nails and pull that clip out.

Pull your door handle forward and bring it out. There's a little clip right here that holds the lock rod. Pull that clip out towards you, lift the handle up off, push the rod down, and it comes off. Now, using the door panel clip tool, or a putty knife start right here. Slide down and you'll come to the pins. I'm going to pop the pins out once you get to them. There's also a little pin right up in here that's missing on this vehicle. But the passenger's side's here, so I can show you how to remove it on the passenger side door. Just push the center of this in, and then pull it out. You pull your door panel up, and it comes off.

Before you reinstall your door panel, make sure you put any clips back in. Then make sure these parts just come up through. Press your panel, get the lock up through. Press the panel toward the outside of your window, push down, and the pins line up. Pull that in. Reconnect your master switch here. Put the back in first, pull it down. Take your door handle, pull the rod out, and put the handle on. I'm going to use a little screwdriver to help me push that clip on. Push this into place and back, put the screw back in, and reinstall these 2 screws. This goes back down on.

Again, we missed this plug, here. To put it back in, push the clip back out. Push it in and then push it flush. Put this plug back in and this little one in the back, you pull it out. Push the pin in and then push the locking pin so it's flush.
