The clutch system in your 10-14 Subaru Outback needs proper fluid level, just like brakes. Watch this 1A Auto video to learn how to check and fill yours
Hey, friends. It's Len here at 1A Auto. Today, we're going to be working on a 2013 Subaru Outback. I'm going to be showing you how to check your clutch fluid. It's going to be a very simple job. I want to be the guy who shows you how to do it. If you need any parts, you can always check us out at 1aauto.com. Here we go.
Right here is where your clutch fluid is located. You can see that it has a level line there, a level line here, low, high. It's right in between. Generally speaking, that's pretty decent right where it is. If you ever for some reason want to fill it, just make sure you clean it off a little bit, get it all nice and clean the best you can. On the top it says to make sure that you use brake fluid from a sealed container. It doesn't specify what kind of brake fluid, but I'm going to go with the assumption that you should probably use the same fluid you're using in your braking system because it's the same vehicle, right? This is DOT 3 specific.
I'm going to go with DOT 3. I'm just going to open up my cap, turning to the left. I'm going to lift it up. Here we are. Be careful not to drip any of this on your paint. We'll just check our gasket, make sure it's not swollen or ripped or cracked. Looks perfectly fine. We're going to take our DOT 3 brake fluid. We're going to bring it over as close as we can. Try to get over it. You can see I'm kind of at a hard angle here. Here we are. Looks pretty good right there. We'll take our cap--it's nice and clean. We'll set it into the little grooves, and then we'll just lock it in just like that. Here we are. Looks pretty good. There we go. Now, we've topped off our clutch fluid.
