Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of Thanks.

You can see here the car idling. Now we accelerate. You can see that the oil gauge goes from about 40 PSI up through 60 PSI. Its normal range is just below 60 PSI, driving around under load. Now, here it's going back down to 40 as we're idling. Behind that gauge is a little motor that runs the needle. Basically, that stepper motor's going bad. You can see here, now, about 30 minutes later, our oil pressure' down. Says it's down at 20, and when we rev the engine, it's only going up to about 40.

If you're getting this issue where it looks like your oil pressure goes down, then you're going to see right here, in a second, we're just going to shut the car off, and turn it on. So in the next clip, we just shut it off. You see it was at 20. It went to zero. Start the truck back up, and the oil pressure goes right back where it should be, 40 at idle. You'll see us rev the engine a little bit. It goes between 40 and 60, which is just fine.

If you're oil gauge is doing this, reading low, then you shut the car off, and turn it back on, that means that stepper motor behind the gauge is bad. Currently, at 1A Auto, we don't have a solution for this, but we are working on it for you.

Thanks for tuning in. We hope this video helped you out. Next time you need parts for your car, please visit Also, check out our other helpful how-to, as well as, diagnosis videos.
