You're looking to find out the production date of your vehicle. Maybe you're looking for a replacement part or something and you have one of those vehicles that's in a transferring year when they changed body styles. VW Jettas are a good example. In 1999, they continued the old body style for a while, and then they started producing the new body style. We're looking at a 2004 Jetta right here. This tag is just inside the driver's door.
You open it up, look down to your right and you'll see this tag. You can see there's lots of good information on here. Top left, it shows that this vehicle was made in Mexico. Then, the date is 11 of '03. That's November of 2003. That's when the vehicle was produced.
It also shows you some gross vehicle weight ratings: front axle and rear axle. That 3991 is your maximum weight, so with all your passengers and bags and stuff, you don't want to go over that 3991. Then, also your VIN is there as well.
Here's a different vehicle. This is a Chevy Tahoe, so it has the same idea. The tag, is, rather than being on the door jamb itself, on the back of the door. Again, there's lots of good information. You can see, in the top right, this vehicle was produced in 11 of 1995. This is a 1996 Chevy Tahoe so it was produced in November of 1995. Then, there's a lot of other good information on these tags as well. Those are two tags, pretty common for late model vehicles. That's how you can find your vehicle production date as well as other information.
