The only item you'll need for this procedure is your vehicle's key.
If your vehicle ever gets stuck in park, and you can't get the shifter to move out of gear. There’s a simple release on your Rogue that you can get using only the key to your vehicle that you already have. Right here you'll see a cover and the words shift lock. Your key fits perfectly in this opening. Pop up that tab. There's a small button inside there conveniently the same shape as your key.
Now you may be wondering, don't I need to start my vehicle in park? Unfortunately, part of the solution is we can push down that tab. I'm going to put my foot on the brake for safety reasons, but you can move the shifter without your foot on the brake. I'll put my vehicle in neutral and keep my foot on the brake. The vehicle will still start in neutral. We can select the appropriate gears and still get where we need to go. Once you've got your vehicle going, always remember to reinstall that shift lock cover.
