Top DIY Money Saving Repairs on 2010-17 Chevy Equinox SUV

Created on: 2021-04-22

Andy points out the best DIY repair jobs that you can do yourself to save money with a 2010 to 2017 Chevy Equinox.

Here we have a 2010 to 2017 Chevy Equinox. In this video, we're going over the top DIY repairs that you can do yourself to save money.

Over time every vehicle needs brakes, and they're actually a lot easier to do than you think. To remove the brakes, you're going to take the two bolts out of the caliper, take the caliper off, then you can take the pads off. Take the caliper bracket off, there's two more bolts, and then once you get that off you can take the rotor off as well. Putting it back together is pretty much reverse of taking it apart. For more specifics we actually have a video on this, the link will be in the description. While we're in this location the front struts are actually really easy to do, especially if you get them as an assembly. Take these two nuts and bolts out, take this bracket off, take this bolt off of the sway bar link, and then up top, there will be a cover, take the cover off and you should be able to access the upper strut mount nuts. After you get all those out, you can grab the whole assembly, slide it out, put the new assembly in, and put it back together the same way it came out. Any time that you're going to change anything in the suspension or the steering where it's going to change something in the tire angle, you're going to want to get an alignment after you're done.

Another repair that you can do yourself that's easier than you think is replacing the headlights. To get the headlights out there'll be a cover over here, you have to take that off. You have to remove the bumper which sounds a lot worse than it is. There's a screw over here, a couple screws underneath, and a couple push pins, then you pulled the bumper off. Once you get that out, you can access all the bolts that hold the headlight on. Then you can pull the headlight assembly out, replace it, or check the bulbs or replace the bulbs. When you put it back together, when it's all back together you're going to want to aim the headlights. To adjust it use a Phillips head screwdriver and just slide it in here, and you can twist it one way to go down and the other way to go up.

So, there's some repairs that are easier than you think that are going to save you a ton of cash. If you enjoyed this video or it helps you out, make sure you subscribe to our channel. Ring the bell, turn on all notifications, so you don't miss any of our videos.
