Here, we have a 2001 through 2006 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD. In this video, we're going over some of the repairs that you can do yourself that are gonna save you hundreds of dollars.
Let's talk about spark plugs and wires first. Now, they're fairly easy to get to. This is a V8 engine, so everything is wide open. The wires come right off. You can just pull those off. And then, down below, you might need some pliers or some special wire pliers to remove the lower parts. Sometimes, those stick on there, but then you can access the plugs. Use a spark plug socket. Take the old one out. Put the new one in. Put new wires on.
It's always a good idea to replace the wires when you're doing the plugs. A lot of times, the wires are gonna cause you more problems than the plugs. Doing your own brakes is another way that you can save tons of money, and it's not that hard. Take the caliper off. There's two bolts. There's one on the bottom, one on the top. Once you take the caliper off, you wanna hang it, and then, take the brake pads off. Take this caliper bracket off. There's two bolts. Then, clean the brake caliper bracket up. Take the rotor off. And putting it back together is the same in reverse.
Replacing your shocks is fairly easy. You wanna support the lower control arm. Take the bolt out right there. On the top, you want to take that nut off. Then, you can slide the whole shock out. Put the new one in the same way, tighten it up, and you're good to go.
