Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and the next time you need a part for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the washer bottle on this 2004 Volkswagen Jetta. It's important that you check the inside of your driver's door. On the sticker there you'll see which country your vehicle is made in. This model was made in Mexico. If your vehicle was made in Germany, it's going to use a different washer bottle and be a slightly different procedure. The only items you'll need for this repair is a 10mm socket and rachet and a flat blade screwdriver.
Start off by disconnecting your washer pump harness. Using a flat blade screwdriver, just push the tab and pull the harness up. Then push the tab on the harness back there and disconnect that as well. Now, you want to remove this 10mm bolt right here and this 10mm bolt right down here. We'll just fast-forward as Don removes those. Push the washer bottle towards the center of the vehicle, and then lift it up and out.
Now, use a flat blade screw driver to pry off this washer hose. Then put your finger over the hole to stop the washer fluid from pouring out. You want to just drain your washer fluid, then swap over this level sensor right here you just pry it out with a flat blade screwdriver. Set it aside, pry out your washer pump, and lift it up and out.
Then put the washer pump into your new washer bottle and the level sensor into your new washer bottle. You want to make sure that you also swapped over the screen and this gasket down here. Now, lower your washer bottle down into place, pushing that gasket down to that hole pushing the top of the washer bottle back on to that stud. We'll just fast-forward as Don replaces those two 10mm bolts. Reconnect your washer hose and the harness for the washer pump. Then reconnect this harness back here, and then reconnect this harness back here. Replace the washer fluid in your bottle, and you're all set.
