How to Replace Windshield Washer Pump 1998-2002 Honda Accord

In this video, I'm going to show you how to replace your windshield washer pump on this 2000 Honda Accord. Tools you'll need are a flat blade screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver, 8 and 10 mm sockets. In this video, I'll show you how to take the bumper cover off. This is probably the easiest way you can reach up underneath but it's kind of a blind repair if you don't take the bumper cover off. Taking the bumper cover off as you'll see is not that difficult. You can see I have my wheel turned over here. There is a 8 mm bolt here. Underneath, the 10 mm bolt here. Then there's a series of these clips. This is on top here. One here, one here and then there are also those clips up underneath. Let's see if we can find it here. You can see it right there. I think there's probably about four or five underneath. You remove those clips and the 8 and 10 mm bolts on each side moves forward. To remove the clips, you just use a flat blade screwdriver right up on the middle of the clip then it allows the whole thing to come out.

Here, I'm going to go on super high speed as I use a ratchet, socket and extension to remove the two bolts on one side and then I move over to the other side to remove the same two bolts on the other side. Then go underneath and remove the clips. Now you saw me remove a clip on the top. That was relatively easy shot. The ones underneath, they work the same way but generally they're kind of filled up with a little bit of gunk so you'll have to work out on it a little more to pry up the middle and then pull them out. As soon I get done here with pulling those clips out underneath then we'll go back and do the rest of it. You want to take the side, pull it down and out. You can see my bumper cover just came right off. Pull the other side down and out then the cover comes off. Over here on your driver's side, here's your washer pump right here. I got the bucket underneath. Basically, what you'll do is grab a pull of it and pull it out. If you have fluid in here, the fluid will come out and it will come out fast. To change your washer pump, twist and pull off this feed line just off the line.

This lead here comes off. Press on this little tab. It pulls right off. Mine is working fine. I'm just going to reinstall it. Put that in, push this hose back on. There's a rubber grommet on here. It's best to usually put the grommet back into or put the grommet into the reservoir first. Push it right in and it clips in right up there. Now you'll want to refill the reservoir. I just cleaned out the bucket before I drained it. That makes sure you get a nice clean fluid in there. Put your bumper cover back on. Put it in place. Make sure that these flaps go up under or actually over the cover. Hook it up into place. Put in the bolts in place. Now, I'm just going to speed it up here as I put the rest of those clips in. You just have to push the plastic underbody of the inner fenders, push it up into place and then make sure the pins go in correctly.

I'm going to speed up through here. Putting in the bottom 10 mm screw. It goes from the bottom of the facet to the inner fender and then the top one that goes from the facet to the actual fender. Then on the other side. You see, I'm kind of struggling here a little bit. This is probably pretty common on these vehicles. This car has probably a couple of bumps and bruises and there's a little clip that clips on to the fender. You just have to move up to the right spot. Basically that's what I'm doing. Trying to move that clip to the right spot then get the bolt through the fascia up into that clip and get it tightened up. Other than that, you're all set.
