step 1 :Removing the Washer Pump
- Remove the two Phillips screws from the passenger side inner fender
- Pull the inner fender back
- Disconnect the washer pump wiring harness
- Have a drain pan ready
- Disconnect the washer fluid hose
- Pull off the washer pump
- Allow the washer fluid to drain
- Open the washer fluid bottle cap to allow the fluid to drain more quickly
- Pull off the washer pump grommet

step 2 :Installing the Washer Pump
- Push the washer pump grommet into the washer fluid reservoir
- Push on the washer pump
- Connect the washer pump wiring harness
- Push on the washer fluid hose
- Refill the coolant bottle with a funnel
- Push the inner fender into place
- Insert the two Phillips screws into the inner fender

In this video I'm going to show you how to replace the washer pump on this 2005 Maxima, same as any '04 to '08. You can do this without removing the front bumper cover and you'll kind of see what I mean by that later. The only tool you'll need is a Phillips screwdriver.
Up underneath, in front of the wheels are two Phillips screws. You'll want to remove those and now you kind of pull this out and pull your inner fender out like that. Now the next few scenes I filmed obviously with the bumper cover all the way off.
To replace this washer bottle you do not have to remove the bumper cover but it sure made it a whole lot easier to film. What you can do is pull that fender well and the inner fender, just kind of pull it back and reach your hand in there. Unplug the pump and then pull it out. It just makes it a lot easier to see what you're doing or what you need to do by filming it this way.
I've got a catch pan underneath. If you're reservoir's been broken then you may not have this much fluid in it, but you can disconnect your washer motor right here. Push down on a tab and pull out, and then, you can remove this hose here, which will start the draining process. To quicken the draining process pull your motor out. To further speed the draining if you need to, take your cap off and that allows it to drain quicker.
This grommet comes out. Put a new one in, if your new motor comes with one. Make sure the motor's going into the grommet this way. I push the motor in firmly and reconnect and make sure that we reconnect our washer tube. Then, just take your fill tube. It pushes down in; it actually goes in like that with this part facing forward. It goes down in. Push it down and then turn it clockwise to lock it in place. You might be able to see this little orange funnel I'm using. I did clean that catch pan very thoroughly beforehand so I'm confident that the fluid going there is nice and clean. I basically pour it all in except for the last little bit because usually. If there is anything big, it settles down to the bottom. Now, reinstall the two Phillips screws underneath.
