How to Replace Washer Fluid Reservoir 2007-10 Hyundai Elantra

Hey, friends. It's Len here at 1A Auto. Today I'm working on a 2007 Hyundai Elantra. I'm going to show you how to do a washer fluid tank. It's going to be a fairly easy job. Okay, so here we go. We're going to go ahead and take out this bolt right here. There should be one right there. It's broken, that happens. Anyway, we're going to use a 10 millimeter on this particular application. Turn it to the left counterclockwise, so we can remove it. There it is. Super long for no apparent reason. Put that aside. Grab this. Put this unit aside. Cool. All right. Now we can see we've got a couple little push clips here. They just kind of go along over this way and everything.

All we're going to do, we're going to use two tools. I've got a Phillips head. I'm going to use it, turn to the left. This is going to start lifting this up for me. Once it gets up enough, I can get my screwdriver under there. Then I should be able to just pop it right up. Nothing ever works on video. Come on. There it is. When this is pushed in it spreads all those legs and holds it in. Okay. I'll just remove all these. There we are, last one. I'm just going to give this a little wiggle, see if we can get it to move around. It seems like it's coming off pretty well. Perfect.

Let's bring the vehicle up a little bit, and we'll start taking apart anything that might be coming from the wheel well just in case there's any holding it in there, and then along the bottom. We should be able to pop this puppy right off. Right here, there's a small bolt that comes through this and then up into the fender. I'm just going to go ahead and remove that. There it is. I'm going to do the same on the other side of the vehicle, and we'll continue bringing the vehicle up.

Okay, so up in here we have our fog lamp assemblies. If you wanted to take this wiring harness off of it, all you're going to do, is there's a little squeeze tab right here. There's one located right on the other side. You're just going to grab them, squeeze them, give it a little tug. Pull it down. I'm going to give that a try. Let's see. Here we are. We'll take a look at the harness here, make sure there's no funny colors, no rust or rainbow colors. Everything looks pretty great. Set this aside. We'll go over and do the same thing to the other side of the vehicle, if I can get in. Give those a squeeze, hopefully. Pull it down. Take a peek. It looks pretty clean. That looks great to me. Now move along.

I'm just going to pull out the clips that are down along the bottom here. Your vehicle may have them going all the way around. This one is missing a whole bunch, so it is what it is. Basically, you just want to make sure that you have anything that's holding your bumper cover to anything else like the wheel well. You got another clip right here, so I'll grab this one. You want to make sure you have all those out. If yours has two, take out two. If yours has 20 of them holding it together, sorry for you, but we'll keep moving here. All right, I'll put this last one aside. We'll bring the vehicle back down, and we'll start going from the top, start taking this puppy off.

Okay, so we've got all the bumper cover taken apart as much as we can. Now it's time to just grip it and give it a little tug. Here we go. It seems like it's sticking anywhere. Just try to lift it, and there we are. Now we've removed our bumper car. Okay, so to get to the pump we took the bumper cover off. Whether you can do it with the bumper cover on or not, that's up to you. Theoretically, you could probably try to squeeze your hand up in here and, I don't know. I'm just going to take the bumper cover off, squeeze this right here. Always check your connectors, make sure there's no funny colors in there. You don't want rust, or debris, or rainbow colors. That's always bad in electrical connectors. Just set this aside.

You can take off this hose. You might get a little bit of fluid coming out. Let's see if I can give it a little tug. It's coming. Taking its time, but it's coming. There we are. Now I'm just going to do something, a little collection receptacle here. Nice clean funnel. Get my jug. I'm just going to see about pulling this out. Lift up on that tab, pull that down. There we are. Let's see if I can pull this out. There we are. Okay, so let's start getting some of this wiring off of here.

It just kind of clips in, nothing really too crazy. This right here has got little clips on both sides, so all I'm going to do is I'm going to try to give it a little tug, just pushing on that clip. Give the other side a little tug. It should pull right out. There it is. Grab these. These just slide right out. Perfect. Let's grab our 10 millimeter, our ratchet and extension, and we'll get busy taking out these two bolts. There we go. Turn it to the left and do this one. Okay. Tools aside.

Okay. To take this out now, we're going to have to slide it towards the front of the vehicle. Right over here there's a little point. Let's do that. Bring it right down and out. There we go. Here we go. We're going to go ahead and put this up in here. We want to make sure that we have this going in the right direction. Obviously, we can't put it all the way right here because then it won't be able to clip into there. We'll just kind of pull it like this. Slide everything in. We've got our little thing right here. That's where it slides into, right? I'm just going to get everything kind of lined up here. Bring it down, slide it in to where it wants to be.

I've got my bolt hole lined up there. Got one lined up here. Now I'm just going to grab my bolts. I'll start them in, and then we can go ahead and start wiring all this up. Here we go. I've got one of my bolts. Start it in there. The other one, a little harder to get to, but I can do it. It'd probably be really hard with the bumper cover on. It's your prerogative, if you want to leave it on. I would take it off. Now when I tighten this up I want to bottom it out just like that and just give it a little bit more. Okay, we don't want to crush and break our plastic. Super important. We just paid big bucks for this thing. Okay, bottomed out. There we are. Set this aside. Grab our little connector here. We're just going to push it through like that. Get our fog lamp connector. It goes right there.

This connector, we already checked it. It's going to go right here. Slide it on there nice and clipped in. Get it set into these little hooky dos. Do the same thing with this one. If we were replacing this hose, we would do that now, obviously. This hose is in good condition. It's not swollen, or broken, or anything, cracked. I'm going to reuse it. Put that right like that. Perfect, we can move on to the next step. Here we go. Let's get our bumper cover up close to the car. We're going to be careful for any paint. We don't want to scratch up any paint. Okay, get it so it's sitting up here. I'm just going to come along the side.

There's a little lip right along the bumper cover, it needs to go up in here. Okay, so whatever you got to do to make it happen. I just grab wherever the grill is, give it a little tug. Wiggle it. Here we are. Give it a little bonk. Bonk, bonk. Screw that in. Same thing on the other side. Screw this side in. Cool. All right, let's grab some screws and some push pins. We'll move along. We've got our little push clips. I'm just going to start them in here. You just push in the center. Do the same for all of these. Nice. All right.

Now let's reinstall this right here. We've got a little air duct hole here, one there. We got a little air duct there, and one there. We'll just line those two up. Start with the rearward facing one first. Slide it in and grab the bottom one. We'll just line this up with the holes right here and start this right in. Using a 10 millimeter, tighten it up. It's just rubber there, so we don't need to go too much tighter than that. This one is already broken. Let's go ahead and move underneath. We'll move along.

We've got our little screw. It's going to right up in the corner of this bumper right under there. Okay, take it lined up with the hole here. You might have to wiggle it around. There it is. See if I can get this on there. There we are. Perfect. Get that pressed in there. We'll do the same to the other side of the bumper, and we'll bring it up and continue it on the bottom. We've got our wiring harness for our fog lamp. You'll notice it's got a little notch out of it. In the fog lamp bulb itself, it has a little stud coming through, so I'm just going to line up the notch with the stud and the bulb and try to squeeze them together. Get that nice and latched in. Give it a little tug. It feels good. We'll do the same to the other one. Find our notch. There it is. It was on the outside. Get this lined up. Squeeze it up and in. There we are. Cool.

We got a couple push clips. We'll go ahead and get those pushed in real quick. As you could tell, this thing is kind of busted up under here. It's missing a whole bunch of parts. Yours may or may not have any of this. Who knows? Here we are. We'll go with the assumption that they're all going across here, and it looks beautiful. Okay, great job, everybody.
