Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the canister purge valve on this 2003 Nissan Frontier. It's pretty much the same for model years 2001 through 2004.You're going to need a new canister purge valve from 1AAuto.com, long flat blade screwdriver, needle nose pliers and a 12 mm socket with a ratchet.
You'll find your vapor canister purge valve on the driver's side, right behind the air box. The purge valve is secured by a 12mm nut and it has a connector and two hoses that go to it. Press the tab in on the connector and pull it off. Then, using a pair of needle nose pliers you can squeeze the clamps, pull them back, and then you can pull the hoses off of the vapor canister purge valve. I'm using a 12mm socket and socket wrench to remove the nut, and I'll fast forward as I do that.
Here, you can see the old part and the new part from 1A Auto. It is designed as a direct replacement fit part. Going back in it's pretty much the same as how it came out. You're going to mount the new canister purge valve. Install the washer with the 12 mm nut, tighten that up. Reinstall your two hoses. Slide the clamps back over the hoses and plug in your connector. I'll fast forward as I do that.
