step 1 :Removing the Trunk Switch
- Push in the tabs and remove the lower panel
- Twist the bulb socket off
- Pull the bulb off of the socket
- Remove the two 7mm screws from the panel
- Pull out on the side dash panel to reach the lower panel
- Remove the lower panel
- Disconnect the trunk switch harness
- Push in the tabs and remove the trunk switch

step 2 :Installing the Trunk Switch
- Push the new switch into the panel
- Connect the trunk switch wiring harness
- Push the panel into place
- Tighten the two 7mm bolts to the panel
- Push on the bulb to the socket
- Twist the bulb socket on
- Push the lower panel into place

In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the trunk release switch on this 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo. The items you'll need for this include a 7mm socket and ratchet and a flat blade screwdriver.
Underneath your steering wheel you'll see this panel. You want to just push in these two tabs and pull it down. Then twist the socket free and pull the bulb out. Then you want to remove these two 7mm screws.
Pull out on this panel here, and you want to be sure that that bottom clip releases. Then just pull down on this panel. Pull down on this side. Using a flat blade screwdriver, push in on the tab on the harness, disconnect it, and it's free.
Now just push in the tabs and pull the switch through.
Take your new switch and push it into place.
Reconnect the harness to your switch. Line up the panel and push it back into place. Then replace the two 7mm bolts at the bottom of the panel.
Push the bulb back into the socket and twist it back into this panel. Then just push it back up into place. You're all set.
