Hi, I’m Mike from 1A Auto. We’ve been selling auto parts for over 30 years!
Hi everyone, Sue at 1A Auto. Today we're going to show you how to remove and replace your rear trunk latch on an 07 Mazda 6 sedan. If you need any parts for your vehicle, click on the link below and head on over to 1AAuto.com.
Going to open the truck first, in this particular model has an electric button. Pops the trunk. To pull these clips down I take a small screwdriver, flathead, and it's a centerpiece pops out, and you pull it down. Now, if you just wanted to change the bulbs in the assembly you just need to pull that many down, but we're going to pull the whole liner down. Just repeat this process to all the clips, all the way around.
I'm going to disconnect the electrical part of the latch first. There's a pin on the clip in the back. Push it down with my finger. Pull out that. We have two bolts, and remove them with a 10mm socket. There's one here, and one there. Now, we have the rod exposed that goes to the lock. This clip pushes this way. It slides, and then you just pull the rod out. Now we already disconnected the electrical part. But, we need to pull this off that latch. So, it's either that or we reach up in here, find the tabs, and push on them. There we go. So, there we have our trunk latch with the inner release, the electric release.
Going to reverse procedure to install. I'm going to put the latch rod on first. Just poke that right there, with the plastic and silver, latch it. Bring that up. Going to latch that in first, let that click in. Connect the electrical connector. Now, I can get the two mommy bolts, 10 mL socket. There it is. Voila. I'm going to hold the liner up, and I'm going to just start pushing the clips all the way around. These are those body clips that got the little fingers. So you have to squeeze those. Don't push the tab down yet. You want to squeeze the - line them up. Easier said than done. There we go. Get that one. Lock it in. Going to go to the opposite side so I don't have to hold it. Sometimes it takes two hands. There we go. Now, I'm just going to repeat this procedure. I'll put the rest of the clips in. Last one. Ready to go.
