Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

In this video, we're going to show you how to change out the trailer hitch plug receptacle in this Dodge Ram. This one's a 2008, but the procedure is the same for any 1998-2010 Dodge Ram. You'll need a new receptacle from 1AAuto.com and a T25 Torx driver.

Remove the four T25 Torx screws holding the plug receptacle into the bumper. Remove the socket from the bumper, release the red safety tab from the connector, then release the connector from the receptacle.

Here, we have our old part from the vehicle, and here is our new part from 1AAuto.com. As you can see, we have the same mounting holes on the front, we have the same connector on the back, the same pin configuration on the inside. If your old plug receptacle is broken, cracked, corroded, this new part from 1A Auto is going to go right in, direct-fit like your original equipment, and fix you up right.

These plugs tend to get filled with dirt and debris from being so close the road. You may have to blow it out a little to make your plug go in smoothly.

Reconnect the connector until it snaps into place. Lock your safety tab back in. Inside is a retainer plate where your screws go in. Reach under the bumper, line up the holes, reinstall your plug receptacle into the bumper while holding the screw retainer in the back, start your screws. Once you have two screws in to keep it lined up, tighten them down and install the rest of your hardware.

Thanks for tuning in. We hope this video helped you out. Next time you need parts for your car, please visit 1AAuto.com. Also check out our other helpful how-to and diagnosis videos.
