Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

In this video, we're going to show you how to service the truck bed light and third brake light assembly on a 2003 Nissan Frontier. It is fundamentally the same for models years 2001 through 2004. You'll need a Torx 20 and a Torx 15 bit as well as a socket wrench.

The third brake light is held in by two Torx 20 screws. I'm using a Torx 20 socket on a quarter inch drive socket wrench and I'm going to remove those two screws, and I'll fast forward as I do that. Pull out the assembly and you'll notice two connectors and a grommet there. Pull the grommet out of the body to expose the connector. It's a push type connector. Just push it in and release and here you see the other style. You can use your fingernail to do this if you didn't have the screwdriver.

With your third brake light assembly and truck bed light assembly out, you can use a T15 and a socket wrench to service the truck bed lights bulbs that are on either side. The third brake light is a sealed unit, so you'd have to replace the whole assembly if your third brake light is out, but you can replace the truck bed light bulbs. That's done by removing the two screws on either side, and then pulling out the backing portion and you'll see the bulb inside, once you've got that out. You can see the bulb here. That just snaps in and snaps out. I'll go ahead and fast forward as I put that back together.

Go ahead and reconnect the two connectors and then push the wires back into the truck and secure that grommet so that no water gets in, and then you can go ahead and reinstall your two Torx 20 screws and I'll go ahead and fast forward as I do that.
