How to Replace Third Brake Light and Cargo Bulbs 1988-98 GMC Sierra

How to repair, install, fix, change or replace a broken, damaged, burned out, cracked, faded, cloudy or chipped third brake light on 96 GMC Sierra

  1. step 1 :Removing the Third Brake Light
    • Remove the two Phillips head screws from the brake light
    • Remove the brake light
  2. step 2 :Servicing the Bulbs
    • Pull the bulb out
    • Press the new bulb on
  3. step 3 :Installing the Third Brake Light
    • Insert the brake light cover into place
    • Tighten the two Phillips head screws to the brake light

In this video, we're going to be working with our 1996 GMC Sierra K1500. We're going to show you how to remove and replace your third brake light bulbs with cargo lights.

Here are the items you'll need for this repair: Phillips head screwdriver, and gloves.

To remove the third brake light assembly with your cargo lights, we'll remove these two Phillips head screws. Once the screws are out, remove the cover and access the two third brake light bulbs with a cargo light bulb on the outside edges.

Simply pull the bulb out to remove it, and pop the new bulb back into the socket. This is the same for any of the four bulbs up here.

Reinstall the cover and our two Phillips head screws.
