How To Replace Taillight 1998-2003 Ford Escort ZX2

Need to replace the tail light assembly or the tail light bulbs? This video will show you how to do it yourself

step 1 :Removing the Taillight Assembly
- Remove the two 7mm screws to the side of the taillight assembly.
- Pry the light out and off.
- Disconnect the harnesses.

step 2 :Replacing a Bulb
- Twist the socket off and pull the bulb straight out.
- Push a new bulb into place and twist the socket back into the taillight.

step 3 :Replacing the Taillight Assembly
- Pry out any clips left behind in the car.
- Take the sockets from the old taillight and twist them into your new taillight assembly.
- Reconnect the harnesses.
- Line up the outside pin and push the taillight back into place.
- Replace the two 7mm bolts.

In this video, we're going to show you how to service a tail light on this 2001 Ford ZX2. Pretty easy. You'll need a 7mm socket with a ratchet and an extension will help and you probably will also need a flat blade screwdriver.
I'm removing the two 7mm screws. And we'll just speed up here as we remove those two screws. Pry this out a little bit on the edge, give it a couple of taps. Pull your two ears apart and on either side of the connectors. If you're just looking to replace your bulbs, here's how you do it. Just twist and in this case take the harness off. Like bending back the two ears. Give it a twist, pull it out and pull that bulb. It's going to go on the same way. Now, match up your ears, twist it tight. And same on the other side. Pop off your connector, twist. Similar type bulb. Pop off your connectors.We have two clips, one here and one here. This one came out with the assembly but this one we're going to need to remove. I'm just using flat blade screwdriver. Pry underneath it.
Got the old part and the new part from 1A Auto, its exactly the same. In this case, we're going to have to swap the bulbs and sockets over. Ready to plug it in. Let's go fast forward for a second. You'll see Don fumbling a little bit and then what we find actually is just pulling the rear tab or the, I'm sorry not the rear tab but this tab that goes in the side, pull out the light. Put it on the car and the slide the light into it. And I will just fast forward again as we just reinstall those two 7mm bolts.
