- Pry out the clip on the piston and pull the end free
- Repeat the process for the other clip

- Push the piston onto the studs

In this video, we're going to show you how to replace a tailgate support piston on this 2010 Volvo XC60. We show you on the passenger side, but the driver side is the same procedure. The only tools you'll need for this are a flat blade screwdriver and someone or something to safely support your tailgate while you do this procedure.
To remove the piston you just need to pry out the clip at the top and the bottom and pull it free at the same time. Just pry out that clip and just pull that end of the piston free. Then repeat the process on the bottom of the piston.
Take your new piston and just push it into place on those studs. You're all set.
