step 1 :Removing the Tailgate Support
- Support the tailgate with a piece of wood or have an assistant support the tailgate
- Pry off the clip at the bottom of the tailgate support with a flat blade screwdriver
- Pull off the bottom of the tailgate support
- Pry off the clip at the top of the tailgate support with a flat blade screwdriver
- Pull off the top of the tailgate support

step 2 :Installing the New Tailgate Support
- Push the top of the tailgate strut into place
- Push the bottom of the tailgate strut into place
- Push the clips in with a flat blade screwdriver

On each end there's a little clip. Use a small flat-blade screwdriver and pry the clip as you pull, and as you do this, you can't see it on camera, but I have somebody helping by holding the tailgate, and obviously if your tailgate's not staying up you'll have someone holding it. Pry out on the clip, if need be you can carefully just take the whole clip off, and it comes off. Then at the top there's the same thing, push your screwdriver in, pry out on the clip, and bring it off.
Here are the new support struts from 1A Auto, and here's your original ones. New ones are just like the original. You can see the original have an angled bottom, and the new ones from 1A Auto are exactly the same. They're going to go in, mount, and function, exactly the same.
For reinstallation, you'll need to lift up really hard on your tailgate, and again, it’s always good to have a person help you. They just clip on the top, I'm going to twist them, and just kind of let your tailgate down if you have to. Put it on the bottom, and do the same thing over here. Clip on the top, twist, and make sure that they're supporting.
