In this video, we're going to be working with our 1998 Ford F-150. We're going to show you how to remove and replace your vehicle's tailgate cables.

Here are the items you'll need for this repair: T-40 Torx socket, ratchet
Open your tailgate. If you have a broken cable, you'll want with that one, but where both of ours are good, we'll simply lift up and remove one side. Using a T40 Torx socket and a ratchet, remove the bolt on the bottom side of the tailgate cable.
Now our cable is fine so we're going to reinstall it, but this would be the same for a new one. Line up the tab on the washer with the slot in the tailgate and reinstall the T40 Torx bolt. Lift up slightly and reinstall your cable. If you're replacing both cables, simply repeat these steps on the opposite side.
